Carnesville, Georgia — The Franklin County community is mourning the tragic death of 19-year-old Zoie Marie Atkinson, who was killed in a head-on collision on Stone Bridge Road on Monday afternoon, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Authorities say the crash occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. south of Andrews Road when a silver 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling westbound reportedly crossed the center line and struck Atkinson’s red 2010 Ford Fusion head-on. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to rotate before coming to rest at the scene.
Zoie Atkinson was pronounced deceased at the scene as emergency responders arrived. Officials confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle, a 66-year-old woman from Carnesville, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital in South Carolina for treatment.
Two children, ages 10 and 8, who were passengers in Atkinson’s vehicle, were also seriously injured and transported to hospitals for medical care. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.
