David White Obituary, Death – In Loving Memory
With heavy hearts, we remember David White, a man whose kindness, quiet strength, and devotion left a lasting impact on family, friends, and community. His life was defined by service, compassion, and the care he extended to everyone around him.
David was a devoted husband to Margaret White (née Thompson) and a loving father to Michael White, Sarah White-Collins, and Emily White. A proud grandfather to Jacob, Olivia, Noah, Chloe, and Liam, he was affectionately known as “Papa Dave,” teaching his grandchildren life lessons in patience, humor, and love. He also cherished his role as a brother to Richard White and Patricia White-Morris, maintaining lifelong bonds built on loyalty and shared memories.
Professionally and personally, David was a pillar of his community. He volunteered with the Maple Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and was active in the Lakeside Men’s Club, always ready to help neighbors or friends without hesitation. Stories of his quiet heroism, like during the 1998 ice storm when he checked on neighbors and delivered meals and blankets, reflect his character — humble, dependable, and generous.
David’s friendships and family relationships were strengthened by small but meaningful gestures: handwritten notes, remembering milestones, listening intently, and offering support in both ordinary and extraordinary moments. He never sought recognition; his joy came from making others’ lives better.
The Millbrook community mourns his loss and celebrates his legacy. A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church of Millbrook on Saturday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m., and the Millbrook Public Library has dedicated a children’s reading nook in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Millbrook Youth Mentorship Program, which David helped establish.
David White taught us that true strength is quiet, kindness is never wasted, and a life well-lived is measured by the hearts touched. His memory will live on in the countless lives he enriched.
